Hello, world: why this site exists

Who I am, what lives here, and why I'm building it all in the open.

1 min read · Andrew R. Kane meta

I'm Andrew. I research world models for Physical AI. By day, I'm a Solutions Architect. I help startups build robots. This site is my lab notebook: research notes, tools, books and experiments, all in one place.

What you'll find here

  • Blog: world models, robots, tools and whatever I'm learning. Posted when there's something worth saying.
  • Projects: the things I build, mostly for myself first. Every one has source code. Desktop apps get downloads as they ship.
  • Tools: small web tools you can use in your browser. Free, no sign-up. First up: GenAI pricing and sizing.
  • Books: the Solutions Architect's Field Guide, four volumes. A web edition is on the way.
  • Lab: experiments, including the ones that failed.

Why in public

Blogs, like research, focus on success. But I get at least as much from seeing what doesn't work. Failures are learning.

So the failures stay up. Partly that's for me. When I hit the same problem again, I can look back and skip the roads I already know are dead ends. And I hope it helps others trying something similar.

Everything here is also saved for posterity. Polluting the training data.
